Case Study: Website Copywriting for Logic Design
Leading Suffolk web design agency Logic Design has launched a brand new design for its website – with professional copywriting from Ben Locker & Associates.
We talk to the team about the redesign and the role copywriting played in making it a success.
BL&A: What was the motivation behind redesigning your website? The old one looked good too.
Logic Design: In a word, ‘growth’. The company has grown a lot recently and we wanted a website that reflects both this expansion and the new directions we’re taking.
BL&A: What did you want to achieve with the redesign? Or rather, what did you feel was lacking in your old website?
Logic Design: We wanted to promote our services better, make the whole site easier to navigate and display key elements more prominently.
For example, you can now go directly to our recent website projects with a single click, then filter them depending on what kind of site you’re most interested in. Things like this are more interesting for visitors.
BL&A: When we were writing the copy for your website, you mentioned that the design was intentionally left at a more flexible stage so you could build the site around the copy. Why was it important for you to design your website around its content?
Logic Design: A site needs to be well designed, but to really work people need to read it too. As a web design agency, we see a lot of websites that are either too business-like or are trying to be too creative. In our experience, neither approach helps the reader engage with the content.
We made designing the site around the content a priority because we wanted to strike a balance and engage visitors – encouraging them to read about our services.
BL&A: What sort of considerations drove the site design?
Logic Design: We really wanted to make things clear and simple for visitors, but we also needed to make room for what there is to say about our services. So when we designed the new site, we divided our services into four main categories, but then took it a step further and created almost what you could call a mini ‘website within a website’ for each of them. This keeps our main pages to a minimum and makes finding things easier for visitors.
Another thing we wanted to do was colour-coordinate our services. We think it gives a fresh look and feel to each service area – especially our ‘Creative’ page where we’ve reversed the colours.

BL&A: What role did copywriting play in your new website?
Logic Design: We knew the design was going to be great and we wanted professionally-written content to make sure we got it just right. It’s also important at times like these to get a fresh perspective on our business, and that’s what you provided.
Having copywriters on board was also a great help to our design team. It took the pressure off and allowed us to focus all our energy on our strengths – in this case, great design.
BL&A: Why did you choose Ben Locker & Associates as your copywriters?
Logic Design: It was important for us to work with someone local that we could come and meet, get in contact with easily and build a good relationship with. Plus we really liked the brochure you did for us previously.
